Anna Sonic

Anna Sonic has had a lifelong passion for music. As a child, her talent for creating music was noticed and she commenced her classical training, achieving grade VIII piano at the age of 16. She went on to study music at college where, as well as learning to play several other instruments, she discovered the college's music studio and their production software. Her new-found interest in creating electronic dance music soon became an obsession and she spent every available moment in the studio, teaching herself how to use the software. A dance track she submitted as part of her coursework received a huge reaction from both staff and fellow students on her course, and she knew that she had to carry on making her own music.

Anna finished her degree and a further postgraduate course in 2001, and embarked on a busy career in her chosen profession in the following year. However, the lure of the studio was never forgotten and she spent most of her first few pay cheques on a laptop, a pair of decks and some virtual studio equipment. She continued to spend every spare moment of her day teaching herself to mix, and using her new production software. Her first mixtape, made under a different guise, caught the attention of the promoters of the popular Premonition event in Plymouth. Following her initial DJ debut in July 2004, she was invited to return to play on a number of occasions. She was later given a weekly slot on Cornish Underground radio, and has since played at a number of events across the South West and South East UK, headlining at events in Oxford and Winchester and sharing the bill with several major names in the scene.

Anna Sonic made her techno debut in 2005 at Plymouth's leading underground techno event Oorpi Techno. In 2008 she became a resident at Etulosba, an offshoot of Oorpi Techno, playing alongside well known artists from the UK, including Oorpi's creator and local techno pioneer Calrek. Several of her tracks were later pressed onto dubplates and have created a stir on the dancefloor at club nights and techno festivals both in the UK and abroad.

Anna's versatility as a DJ and love of music make her sets unique and unforgettable. She has remixed tracks for Calrek and has collaborated with him to create Play More Techno, a project aimed at promoting techno to a wider audience. Anna made her international debut in August 2010 at the massive Technosphere festival The Big 5 2010 in Yevpatoriya, Ukraine.
